The Indianapolis-Marion County Council's Rules and Public Policy Committee heard Proposal 102 Thursday, March 31. This would put the city of Indianapolis officially on record supporting Attorney General Zoeller's position in the Supreme Court case of McDonald v Chicago. It also states that " the City of Indianapolis should not frustrate, impede, delay or otherwise harass the fundamental and inherent right to keep and bear arms."

The committee voted to send the Proposal to the full Council on April 5 with a "do pass" recommendation. The five Republicans on the committee (Cockrum, McQuillen, Lutz, Rivera and Vaughn) voted for it, and two of the three Democrats (Gray and Mansfield) voted against it. Democrat Joanne Sanders was absent. It is expected to pass the full Council next Monday.
