Provides a Grant to Anderson Rifle & Pistol Club By Lark Hillard
The Anderson Rifle & Pistol Club would like to thank the NRA Foundation for a grant received this year. This grant is helping AR&PC promote shooting for Junior's, Boy Scouts, and JROTC. The AR&PC is proud to be a part of helping the community to better understand firearms and firearm safety. Thanks again to the NRA Foundation and to all who attend a Friends of the NRA Banquet. You who attend make it all possible. It really works! Provides a Grant to Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club By John Sommerkamp
In June 2011 Fall Creek received a grant from the NRA Foundation. This grant was provided to purchase equipment and targets for an action pistol program at the club. At the conclusion of the High Power match on the first Sunday of each month the club has been conducting Action Pistol events. These events are the only recreational pistol shooting program currently at the club. The NRA Foundation grant money was used to purchase timing equipment, two falling plate racks and target frame materials to be used in the action pistol events. This grant was the start-up money the club needed to begin building a program that the members can support. The plan is to continue developing pistol programs along with the current major range improvement project that started in May. Last year Fall Creek participated in the NRA's Winchester Challenge program and qualified twenty three of its members. This year they have conducted Action Pistol Practical Matches and Falling Plate Matches. All Action Pistol events are timed activities where the participant starts with their pistol holstered and their hands up. When the signal sounds they draw and fire at the designated targets in a specified amount of time. These times are short but with a little practice very doable. Participation in the activity is fun and it improves your skill because you can get real time feedback and assistance from the other shooters. Fall Creek members are not setting any records but they are having a lot of fun and learning new skills. Fall Creek invites you to come out and participate on the first Sunday of the month at 1:00 PM.
